Traditional dovecote in Chora of Andros
Kontos Nikos
Colour photographic view of a traditional dovecote at Neimborio beach in Chora, Andros by N. Vassilopoulou. Viewed from the west, the stone-built dovecote dominates the foreground, while in the background can be seen the settlement, the chapel of Panagia Thalassini, the Venetian Lower Castle and the rock with the Tourlitis lighthouse. To the right appears part of the “Xenia”, also known as “Triton”, an emblematic landmark hotel of post-war modernism, designed by architect Aris Konstantinidis in 1958 for the GNTO.
