
The Stoa of Dionysos on Delos

Colour photographic view of the Stoibadeion in the archaeological site of Delos, photographed by R. Parissis in 1976. Depicted are the two marble piers crowned by oversized phalluses. In the foreground can be seen the relief side of the pier portraying the god Dionysus surrounded by his followers. The Stoibadeion is a small rectangular open-air sanctuary dedicated to Dionysus, built around 300 BC.
