Girls in traditional costume in Kalymnos
Sofianopoulos Alexis
Colour photographic depiction of three girls in traditional costume on Kalymnos, photographed by A. Sophianopoulos. The girls wear the local costume with its characteristic headscarf and gold coins across the chest, while standing behind a white parapet with openings, probably within the precinct of the Monastery of Saint Savvas the New of Kalymnos. In the background can be faintly seen Chora (or Pothia) and Mount Profitis Ilias to the north of the town.
