Colour photographic depiction of the central harbour of Kalymnos (Pothia), photographed from the south by A. Sophianopoulos on 15 September 1977. In the foreground can be seen traditional caiques and vessels moored at the quay, while in the middle ground dominate the landmark Administrative Building (present-day Regional Unit headquarters) and further right the present-day Town Hall, with their characteristic domes, buildings from the Italian period (1912–1943). In the background the town spreads amphitheatrically, with its white houses climbing the foothills of the rocky barren massif of Profitis Ilias.
